We examined the impact of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on the images of some national people. Six?hundred and forty?seven Japanese undergraduate students participated in questionnaire survey before and after FIFA World Cup. Participants rated images of some national people on warmth, intellectual ability, and physical ability dimensions. It was found that images of most national people changed positively, but a few images changed negatively. Partial correlation analysis revealed that images of South African, Ivorian, Cameroonian, Mexican, Brazillian and Argentine on intellectual ability dimension were correlated negatively with images of them on physical ability dimension when images of them on warmth dimension were statistically controlled. These results suggest that international sports events make most of images of national people positive, and African and south American were stereotyped as "high physical ability but not intellectual people".
