抄録
Reading picture books in English have become popular as a way of teaching English to children in Japan. This paper discusses some attractive features of picture books and issues about utilizing them for Japanese children.
The paper also reports some merits and demerits of reading picture books using both Japanese and English by two readers and suggests that it is important to provide more systematic guidance to teachers; not only those who wish to incorporate stories into their teaching practice of English, but also those who wish to practice skills of reading stories in English.
