This article first presents a brief review of three practical studies where picture books were used to enhance college students motivation to read, emotional intelligence, and knowledge about educational psychology. Second, it reports the results of the author's practical study that explores possibilities of using picture books for pre-service English teachers. The results show that picture books can be great teaching materials at college level to teach not only English but also their contents such as education and gender issues if they are carefully selected.
