Yunnan is well known for the cultural diversity of ethnic minorities within the province. Since the 1980s, various types of cultural tourism have been promoted as an effective means of regional economic development. In this context, ethnic minority dance performances have become attracting products for tourists. “Kunming international cultural festival and Kunming’s carnival”, which began in 2000 is one of the largest cultural events with such contents. The purpose of this paper is to organize related data and materials on this event, and to examine the transformation under the globalization process in China.
