文教大学越谷図書館は1981年10月の新図書館開館を機に，学外者に図書館を開放している。当時は画期的・先進的なことであったが，20年以上が経過して大学図書館の学外開放が一般的になったいま，あらためてサービス展開の経緯と現状，意義と課題についてまとめる。また，同図書館内で運営されている小学校中学年以下の子どもを対象にした児童文庫「あいのみ文庫」も開設以来盛況を保っているが，これについてもあわせて紹介する。
\nBunkyo University Koshigaya Library used the opportunity of the opening of its new library in October 1981 to open its doors to external users as well. At that time it was a bold and innovative move, but now that twenty years have passed it has become commonplace. This paper provides an overview of the history, significance, and issues relating to providing an open door service. Furthermore, it introduces the operations of Ainomi Bunko, a children’s collection, that is also maintained by the library.
