Judging from this point of view, the American mystical company includes loosely, after Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Walt Whitman, William Carlos Williams, Hart Crane, Henry Miller, Kenneth Patchen, Theodore Roethke, and among more recent writers, Allen Ginsberg and Gary Snyder.
