<datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">Children's culture has two types with functional elements: communicational type culture and expressional type culture. The former is given by society to children, while the latter is created by children themselves. The two cultures contribute to children's development by affecting each other. However, relation between these two cultures has many problems in current society. It is especially pointed out that play as expressional type culture is enervated and mass communication makes children's culture indistinct on the boundary of youth and adult culture.</datacite:description>
