<datacite:description descriptionType="Abstract">It is desirable that deformations appearing in input patterns to be recognized should be removed as soon as possible. In this sense, we must construct a pattern-information system which can recognize patterns under invariant conditions over translation, rotation, magnification, etc.. In the first place a family f(H) = { f (H) ?θl(H); l ? L of spatial filters to resolve an input eight-valued pattern (a handwritten Chinese character) into its orthogonal direct sum components and to enhance contrast is designed by way of a Fourier transform and a Laplace transform for additive operators. In the next place we construct a structured-model mapping to form a corresponding structurally reconstructed pattern (which will remain invariant over the rotation group) of the input pattern. Successful performance of the resolution, the enhancement and the structured reconstruction demonstrated by a digital computer simulation.</datacite:description>
