Approximately one third of high school graduates seeking tertiary education enrol in senmon gakko. Many information management technicians are senmon gakko graduates. These people will form the basis of Japan's future information society. 　Given these facts, the Ministry of Education has amended the 1991 University Standards of Establishment to include these specialized schools (specialized courses) alongside universities and two?year colleges.
