The purpose of this study is to reveal satisfactriness of disabled persons themselves to school education.\nMethod of Study\nForty nine disabled students who are presently receiving school education either at special school, special class, or regular school and fifty one disabled graduates over 18 years old have been surveyed in Taitoh Ward, Tokyo. The students group is composed of 19 mentally retarded, 14 multiple disabled (physical disability & mental retardation), 7 motor disfunction, 5 autistic, 2 weak & sick, 1 blind, and 1 deaf students. The graduates group is composed of 25 mentally retarded, 12 multiple disabled (Nine out of 12 are with physical disability and mental retardation), 10 motor disfunction, 2 deaf, and 1 blind adults.\nThe survey was conducted by multiple choice questionnaire. Questions are on profile of disability, educational environment, educational guidance and career development, educational curriculum, and career prospectives. The questions are written from the point of satisfactoriness of disabled persons. Non directive item was prepared so that disabled persons would be able to express their free opinion. Assistance or substitution by family members was admitted for those who had functional difficulty to respond questions.\nResults\nEducational environment: The largest proportion of both students group and graduates group are attending or attended Special schools. Special class was the second, then regular school followed. The lower the age level, the less number of cases received integrated education. Adults recieved the integrated education are mostly thirties or forties. More than half of subjects spend thirty minutes to one hour for transportation. One quarter of them spend more than one hour.\nEducational satisfactoriness: For students group, special seasonal projects, experiencial learning, training of body and physical tolerence are the programs which satisfied them. For graduates group, teacher's willingness to provide guidance, appropriate referral or visit to other service agencies, or special seasonal projects obtained graduates' satisfaction.\nThe students group showed less satisfaction in off school programs during summer vacation, exchange with non-disabled children, and instruction on future prospective. Among graduates group, marked dissatisfaction was not observed at any question.
