| 内容記述 | “Renaissance medicine” developed in the West (Europe) in the 15th century. A system of “health centers” was established in Italy. However, after the Industrial Revolution in modern society in the United Kingdom, a large number of farmers moved to cities, and urban dwellers and workers faced major unsanitary problems, health problems, and (infectious) disease problem in addition to labor problems and poverty problems. Under these circumstances, the world’s first “Public Health Act” was enacted in the U.K. in 1848. “Public Health Laws” were issued one after another after this, but this “Public Health Act” was revised, and the “New Public Health Act” drafted in 1875 served as a model for public health laws around the world, and remained in force until 1936. What was the meaning of the concept of public health until it was consolidated into this “New Public Health Act”? It is now understood that there is a difference between the concept of public health in English and the concept of “public health” in Japanese. To understand this difference, we will try to examine the genealogy of the public health concept. |
