内容記述 Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), which is being promoted by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), is an international educational project that has been underway since 2005 at the proposal of the Japanese government. In Japan, it is being implemented from kindergarten, and in high school it is also being tackled in integrated inquiry-based learning. We therefore conducted a questionnaire survey on the learning experience up to high school and expectations for university learning of new university students. We received responses from 1,883 people from seven faculties of Bunkyo University. The results of the survey are as follows
(1) The level of knowledge about the situation in the world (9 items) and the actions that contribute to achieving the SDGs (9 items) varied depending on the item.
(2) Around 76% of students had experience of learning about the SDGs in general study time, and around 21% had experience of extracurricular or off-campus activities.
(3) Around 16% of students had studied about the SDGs as part of their university entrance exam preparation, but around 8% had considered the SDGs when choosing which university to apply to.
(4) Approximately 47% of students evaluated the university's efforts towards sustainability and the SDGs
(5) Approximately 35% of students wanted to learn about the SDGs in university classes, approximately 30% wanted to participate in extracurricular activities and volunteer activities, and approximately 57% were interested in social business.
