| 内容記述 | This paper examines the representation of filial piety (hyo) in the Korean drama Squid Game (Season 1) and its underlying social context. The relationships between participants, particularly the protagonist Seong Gi-hun, and their obligations toward family reflect the structural pressures of economic inequality, intergenerational conflict, and the tension between collectivism and individualism in contemporary Korean society. Acts related to bumo bongyang (supporting one's parents) and hyo are distorted under the pressures of capitalism, revealing moral dilemmas, violence, betrayal, and feelings of guilt and helplessness.
