Through analyzing KY-corpus data composed of conversation between native speakers and non-native speakers from the same viewpoint as Kawaguchi (2010), non-native speakers' use of the variants is verified as follows. The use of the -naidesu form in information-giving sentences (declarative sentences) is much wider than that in information-requiring sentences (interrogative sentences). The -naidesu form in information-giving sentences is used in order to convey the negative judgment even by elementary learners. Advanced leaners use the -naidesu form of non-negation too express modality. Accordingly, it is assumed that the use of the -naidesu form by non-native speakers spreads from negation to non-negation in term of grammatical meanings. Kawaguchi (2010) predicts that the shift to the -naidesu form in language change proceeds from negation to non-negation in terms of grammatical meanings, and this prediction is considered to be the same as non-native speakers' growing use of the -naidesu form as their Japanese proficiency develops. Non-native speakers, irrespective of their Japanese abilities, use the -masen form in negative interrogative sentences, which includes information-requiring sentences, in order to express solicitation and request, and use very few -naidsu form in negative interrogative sentences to ask a question. The above results are considered to be the same as the use of native speakers' variants of the negative polite verb. Therefore it is assumed that the cognitive process of non-native speakers has something in common with that of native speakers.}, pages = {17--39}, title = {日本語非母語話者による動詞否定丁寧形のバリエーションについて}, volume = {26}, year = {} }
