Ninety-seven Japanese female college students completed a questionnaire. The questionnaire included three scales; an attribution scale for the results of Japanese and Korean team performances in the 2002 World Cup Soccer games, an impressions rating scale on Japanese and Korean, and a patriotism scale. In-group serving attribution was higher for high patriotism participants than low patriotism participants. In-group serving attribution correlated positively with impressions of Japanese and negatively with impressions of Korean.
