Canada spends public funds (Official Development Assistance) to promote economic and social progress in the developing countries.  The structures and policies of the Canada's government agencies dealing with development assistance continue to evolve and change to stay relevant to the fast pace of change in the developing world. On this regard, quarters of the funds is channeled by a single agency called Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) into diversity of bilateral, multilateral and private sector projects and programs spread across dozens of sectors in hundred countries.
