The purposes of the communication activities were not only to enhance the communication between these two classes, but also to give the students an opportunity of mutual learning. The main activities were for the international students to visit the English class and make speeches in Japanese and for the Japanese students to write their own essays in English stimulated by these speeches. The paper describes the activities precisely, showing how the students'attitudes towards learning their target languages changed through the encounter with each other. After analyzing the data from the comments of speech evaluation and essays by the Japanese students, and from the impressions and essays by the international students, some attitude changes were observed. The changes were found in awareness towards self-identity and own culture, foreign language learning attitudes, and cross-cultural understanding. Moreover, each participant learned from each other even beyond the class in this unique trial. In the end, the possibilities in interclass communication between the Japanese class and the English class, and issues in promoting the interclass communications are discussed.}, pages = {117--131}, title = {クラスを超えた学び合い : 留学生日本語クラスと日本人学生英語クラス間交流}, volume = {15}, year = {} }
