YONEZAWA Hiroyasu was a marquetry craftsman. He had been writing a diary since he had started at the age of 19 (1906) until 85 (1972). His diary shows how the Japanese Imperial identity was formed through his life. Using the data from his diary as a main text, I have analyzed his imperial mentality that was internalized through the late Meiji era to Taisho era. I have discussed his imperial mentality from three different points of view: firstly, how he collected information and identified through that material to form his imperial mentality. secondly, the process of his identification under Japanese Imperialism. thirdly, how he practiced his imperial mentality, supporting Japanese Imperialism.}, pages = {85--97}, title = {帝国の形成と帝国意識 : 『米澤日記』を事例として}, volume = {20}, year = {} }
