The purpose of this research was to obtain the fundamental data for building a systematic FD program for college physical education. The object of the investigation was universities and junior colleges of middle or large size in Japan. There were 472 universities and 98 junior colleges. The period of the investigation was from March to May of 2013.  The questionnaires were mailed and the replies were received by mailing or e-mail. There were 274 replies. There were 119 professors (43.4%) and there were 103 associate professors (37.6%).\n                                                                                                                                                                                    The questionnaire had 25 questions concerning the followings;\n                                                                                                                                                                                               i) A teacher’s duties and ethics\n                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ii) The educational concept and environment of college\n                                                                                                                                                                                                    iii) Syllabus and teaching methods\n                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  iv) Faculty Development\n                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The replies for one respondent is settled in the range of 25 to 100. The average number of answers was 81.1.
