It has failed to capture public's attention after the Okinawa Oceanic Expo. Although many factors can be attributed, this paper focuses on its unwittingly de-political attribution of the \"preColombian,\" or \"pre-Cook\" history to the oceanic culture in the Pacific. This de-political attribution has permits non-problematic association of images between \"Ocean\" and \"Okinawa\" to perpetuate after the Expo, thereby reinforcing the assymetrical and hegemonic formation/relationship between the nation-state, Japan, and Okinawa. This paper attempts to criticize that relationship through analyzing the representational burden attached to the image of \"Ocean\" at the museum.
