The devised exercises draw on the concept of proprioceptive neuro-muscular facilitation (PNF). The exercise program is performed as a group and has an immediate effect. The purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of the aforementioned exercise program. The subjects of this study were participants in a Sports Medicine seminar “The improvement of shoulder aches and stiffness of the shoulders” hosted by A City in Chiba. The subjects were a total of thirty-four elderly persons, consisting of 7 males (21%) and 27 females (79%), who participated in a lecture on “Learning about the structure of the human body through an exercise program with immediate effects” held on March 6, 2016. Prior to this exercise program, subject completed 1) A Numerical Rating Scale and 2) The State Anxiety Inventory (Part of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory). In addition to 1) and 2), subjects were surveyed after the exercise regarding 3) Their age group and 4) How the shoulders felt. 1) The score on the Numerical Rating Scale Decreased significantly (p<0.01), 2) The score on the State Anxiety Inventory Decreased significantly (p<0.01), 3) By age group, 2 subjects were in their 40s (6%), 7 were in their 50s (21%), 16 were in their 60s (16%), and 9 were in their 70s (26%), 4) After exercising, subjects described the feeling in their shoulders as i) Quite refreshed (16 subjects, 47%), ii) A little refreshed (14 subjects, 41%), iii) Cannot say (2 subjects, 6%), iv) A little discomfort (0 subjects, 0%), v) Intense discomfort (0 subjects, 0%), or vi) No answer (2 subjects, 6%). This exercise program was effective at improving the feeling in shoulders (e.g. feeling refreshed) and reducing the psychological impact of anxiety.}, pages = {163--172}, title = {即時効果を特色とした軽運動の有効性について}, volume = {38}, year = {} }
