An SEG is intended to promote self-understanding, understanding of others, and close intimate relationships. In order to encourage spontaneity, semi-structured sessions were added to the SEG. A facilitator facilitated the SEG(14 sessions, 90 minutes every week, on a university campus)for 69 members. This study describes the group’s progress and it discusses 2 points. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The program cannot fully understood by members due to weak connection between warm-ups and exercises, and members may not be able to integrate the SEG experience if the program covers too much.(2)From the perspective of the whole process, signs of regression may have been overlooked and defenses may have been triggered. Exercises need to be devised in conjunction with the developmental stages of human relations.
