 note = {From the viewpoint of disasters, Japan is one of the most dangerous countries in the world. From the viewpoint of daily life of people living in Japan, however, disasters seldom occur. Information on disaster-stricken areas is usually obtained from the media. This paper discusses the characteristics of and issues with media information about disasters and recovery based on the case of the Kumamoto Earthquake that occurred in 2016.

日本は世界でもトップクラスの災害大国であるが、そこに暮らす一人一人の日常の生活圏から考えれば、災害はそう頻繁に発生するわけではなく、多くの場合、日常の生活圏ではない場所で発生した災害の情報をメディア等を通じて得ることになる。そうしたメディアが伝える災害や復興の情報の特徴や課題等について、本稿では2016年４月に発生した熊本地震に関する地震発生から約３年半の間の新聞報道を基に考察する。},
