However, what I actually read was a 和刻本(Wakokubon), which was published with some lessons, and a 和解本(Wagebon), which was translated and published. In this paper I discuss the contents of "亜墨利加総記(Amerikasōki)", which is a translation of the part about the United States, the reason for its inclusion, and the translation method. Contents are about America in general, from its history to nature, industry, politics, society, and the geography of each state. The point of publication was to make a wide range of people understand the situation in the United States and to counter its threats. The translation could be understood by those whose level of literacy was limited. It is thought that it was read by a wide public and was very useful for learning about American circumstances.}, pages = {132--107}, title = {『海国図志』の和解本『亜墨利加総記』正編、続編、後編について}, volume = {33}, year = {} }
