| 内容記述 | An artificial neural network model for explaining the feature integration and the illusory conjunction was proposed. This model was implemented by the coupled oscillating neurons according to the synchronization hypothesis. Compared with other models proposed previously, the prominent features in this model are: 1. The visual cortex neurons have the retinotopical maps which represent the input corresponding to its location. 2. Pulvinar neurons reciprocally connecting visual cortices facilitate and modulate the feature integration by attention. 3. Attentional shift emerges in these pulvinar neurons. The numerical simulation demonstrated that the number of the objects to be displayed simultaneously and the spacing among them determined the formation of illusory conjunction. Two properties of this network can explain this behavior. One is that the neurons in each feature map have coarse location information, and the other is that there are indirect connections (via pulvinar neurons) between the two locations corresponding in these feature maps. It is suggested that this model is compatible with the psychological theory of the feature integration (Treismam, 1988). |
