| 内容記述 | Svetlana Boym（ 1959-2015） was an“ off-modern” thinker. She turned the adverb “off” into a critical concept of modernity. Her project was detouring around history with capital H, illuminating sideshadows, putting the world off-kilter, and charting a new topography of modernity. Death in Quotation Marks（ 1991） is the first attempt in her life-long project of off-modernism. In this book, she centers on the life and death of the three modern poets and reconsiders the dominant modernist literary discourse which depends on the idea of“ the death of the author”. This paper explores how Boym brushes modern literary history against the grain and how she counters the discourse of the metaphorical killing of the author. It also discusses that her perspective is autobiographical and far from transparent, objective, or scientific, which she thought to be the myth of scholarly practice. |
