| 内容記述 | Faulkner is an author who exercised his utmost skill in his style. In his unique style he gives his subjective explanations to objective facts and phenomena. It is said that he criticized Hemingway as being 'timid' in choosing words. This criticism appears to inevitably mean that he criticized Hemingway's style in which he uses simple words and as few adjectives as possible, and mentions facts and phenomena without any emotion. This paper shows how Faulkner's style affects his use of words, phrases or sentences. In the discussion, examples from Hemingway will be given as objects with which to compare Faulkner's style. |
