内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Since the Lehmann shock, American capitalism has collapsed because of failures of fi nancial management. George Hara insisted that the causes of the breakdown of American capitalism were financial engineering, and ROE management seeking short term profits. For 10 years, Hara has been proposing a new paradigm and new ideas about the capitalistic system.
For maintaining modern capitalism, we must have the belief that Public Interests Capitalism will be the most important human economic system, not egoistic Private Interests Capitalism. This paper has 4 parts.
(1) The meaning of Public Interest Capitalism presented by George Hara.
(2) An evaluation of the contributions of Eiiti Shibusawa to the development of Modern Japanese Capitalism (Shibusawa established 500 companies in Japan.)
(3) Shibusawa's stay in Paris for about 1 year and 7 months for learning Europian culture and political, and economic systems. He studied the European Banking system and Stock Market of that time in France. After coming back to Japan, he established the First (Daiichi) National Bank in Tokyo, among other contributions to the early capitalistic development of Modern Japan. Because he had studied the systems and the spirit of capitalism, it was possible for him to practice economic activities for attaining profi ts for the State of Japan. Modern capitalism in the Meiji era of Japan was accomplished by Shibusawa's single-minded practical activities. For him, the most important matters were national, and not private interests.
(4) The characteristic common to both Shibusawa and Hara was their concern for the public and not private interest.
