| 内容記述 | Jeju islanders have a long history of living in Japan. For a good understanding about Jeju people living in Japan, one can look at the recent situation between Japan and North Korea and Japan and South Korea. Relations between Japan and North Korea are getting worse and worse, as reflected in the discrimination suffered by Koreans in Japan. In contrast, there is a good impression about South Korean popular culture in Japan. At same time, there are strongly expressed opinions like Manga‘hate (South) Korea’, which makes the relationship completely ambivalent. The Jeju islander community has also changed with time. The first generation of islanders have maintained the relationships between their Jeju home village and the Jeju islander community in Japan. But the numbers of this generation are declining. For the second and third generation, Jeju is no longer ‘home’. Their relations with their parents and relatives have also changed. | |||||||
