| 内容記述 | The aim of this study is to clarify whether the presence or absence of intent to become an English teacher affects the quality of a teacher trainee’s practicum teaching performance. Around thirty students participate in practicum teaching every year through our department’s teaching certificate program. However, many of those students do not have serious intentions to become an English teacher, and their attitude may affect their performance during the three-week practicum. This study analyzed the text data of eight certificate program participants’ practicum teaching journals quantitively and qualitatively. The frequency of words used in reflective entries were almost the same between teacher-to-be students and those with no intention to be a teacher, but substantial differences in perceptions of teaching and attitude toward students were found in qualitative analyses. | |||||||
