内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This study focuses on two perspectives of workplace stress among foreign workers, namely, job
satisfaction and cross-cultural communication and discrimination awareness for foreign employees. There are two objectives in this study. 1 To show an example of the relation between job satisfaction and stress of foreign employees, which is not often reported in previous studies. 2 To show whether the stress of foreign workers is related to the discriminatory attitudes of Japanese employees. The current situation will be statistically analyzed and the stress of foreign workers will be discussed based on the results. Regarding the first point, job satisfaction, employees who were satisfied with their job and work environment had lower levels of stress. And employees who were satisfied with their salaries were found to be less stressed about their workload. Regarding the second point, cross-cultural communication and discrimination between foreign and Japanese employees, the results suggest that cross-cultural communication is based on “the Japanese social nature of rigor in achieving the mission of the work” and discrimination is based on “a severe and intrusive evaluation of work failure. It is important for Japanese companies to provide foreign employees with work that suits their abilities and the appropriate amount of work, to maintain a corporate culture that allows them to freely express their opinions and requests, and to create a work environment that includes cooperation between departments. And while maintaining a Japanese corporate culture, it is important to listen to and respect the views of workers from different cultures and to have an open mind to accept the existence of others who are different from oneself. It is important to understand that this will lead to a reduction in stress and an improvement in the mental health of foreign employees.
