| 内容記述 | This study asks reviews the 2020 National Assembly election of South Korea asking whether the country’s party politics has not been institutionalized. Since the democratization in 1987, South Korea’s party politics has been criticized as it is not institutionalized. In fact, most parties in South Korea have been short lived and volatile. In addition, the country’s major parties have acted based on regionalism, not ideology. This study, however, points out the possibility that the country’s party politics is institutionalized because the regionalism-based cleavage is reasonable because it offers major parties safe seats under highly competitive election systems. This review suggests another way of institutionalization of party politics that is different from classic models in European multi-party democracies. | |||||||
