| 内容記述 | The purpose of the present study was to examine the characteristics of the congnitive activity during free-thinking session where subjects are allowed to think about anything with no restriction induced by the experimenter on the mode or content of thought. Another purpose was to clarify whether or not the self-rating of the occurrence and vividness of several modes of thought are related to social desirability. Ninety-one undergraduates undertook 3 free-thinking sessions, each of which lasted 90 seconds and was followed by the self-rating of the occurrence and vividness of 1)verbal, 2)methematical, 3)visual, 4)musical thought on a 7-point scale. After the 3rd session and the self-ratings. subjects completed the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale. The results showed that verbal thought and visual thought were rated highly in both the occurrence and vividness, and that mathematical thought was the lowest in the self-ratings. The self-ratings of the occurrence and those of the vividness were found to be totally unrelated to the self-ratings on all of the modes of thought except the vividness ratings of the verbal thought at the 1st and 2nd session which showed low correlations significant at .1 level to the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale. The implications of these results concerning the validity of the self-rating method employed in the present study were discussed. |
