内容記述 | This article attempts to report some of results of the survey on childrearing practice. General Description of the survey 1. Study purpose : socialization proccess, specifically interaction between parents and children as is in childrearing practice. 2. Respondents : 271 elementary school (5th year) and 208 juniorhighschool students, and their 952 fathers and mothers in Musashino City and Nagano City. 3. Method : questionaire survey. Children respond to the questionaire in classrooms and carried another questionaire back home for their parents. Major findings 1. Ideal image of child held by parents and children's own image of themselves compared : The most frequent one is "cheerful and bright child" for both parents and children. Significant gap between images held by parents and those held by children is in answers, such as "considerate child" "independent child" (by parents), "intelligent child" "popular child among class-mates" (by children). 2. Ideal future image of child : The most frequent one is "happy family life" for both parents and children. Significant gap between images of them is in answers, such as "fulfillment of one's potentiality" (by parents), "well-off life" (by children). 3. Emphasis of childraring practice : Mothers lay emphasis on "manners and etiquette" "feminine attitude" "helping housework" for girls, consequently reproducing stereotypical "feminity". On the contrary fathers stress "study hard" for boys. |
