| 内容記述 | Authors intended to have mutual understanding between Japanese and American people, int the same way as in the previous article. The aim of this article is to clarify similarities and differences between Japanese and American adolescents cognition and attitude toward their parents in the process of development by analysing their responses to questions:(1) Did you change your cognition or not ? (2) When did it change (your age) ? (3) Why did it change ? (4) How did it change ? We coded or recoded the data and applied chi-square test to them. Respondents were the same as in the previous report-347 (136 males and 211 females) students in Japan and 310(81 and 229) in America. Distinguished results were as follows; 1) Change or not of student cognition and/or attitude toward their parents: about half of American adolescents changed their cognition toward Fathers more than once while the same number of Japanese did not. 2) When: age 15～25, especially about 18 was the most frequent among all groups. 3) Why: the developmental reasons (triggers) and reasons about "Self" in American students were twice more than in Japanese ones. 4) How: the difference between Japanese and American students about their mothers were significantly large. Generally positive changes were the most frequent and negative ones were the least. |
