| 内容記述 | This paper investigates the diffusion of three items of news: Famous sumo wrestler Takahanada's engagement with also famous actress Rie Miyazawa, the subsequent breaking off of the engagement, and the Crown Prince's engagement with Masako Owada. These news events occurred from October 1992 through January 1993. Using responses to questionnaires, the rate and speed of news diffusion, the media to learn the news, and the personal communication behavior after knowing the news are analysed. All these items of news spread very rapidly and widely. More than 80 percent of respondents learned them directly from mass-media rather than from other people. Fewer than 20 percent of respondents got them through word of mouth communication. But after knowing the news, 50-80 percent of respondents transmitted the news to other people and talked with them about it. |
