This paper attemps to point out three aspects of J.-J. Rousseau as follows.
1　He accused "the principle of evil" in "~,n6en R6gime" as a thinker of the Enligthtment. I am interested in the fact that Rousseau censured "societ~ civile" for deforestation, pollution and other environmental problems originated from great expansion of private land, urbanization etc.
2　He studied ecological functions of forests and relations between vegetable organism and land, as an ecologist. Rousseau was very anxious about their destruction by agricultural and industrial activities of civilized society, in his book of "Discoars sur l'origine et les fondements de l'inegalite' parmi les hommes" written in 1755.
3　As an educational theorist, he proposed an instructional plan for "homme naturel" in "tmile" which included two subjects of natural phenomenes and natural religion that could be found some elements similar to environmental Ethics.
4　In my opinion, J.-J. Rousseau was not only a philosopher but also an ecologist and theorist of environmental education in the 18th century.
\n　これまで筆者は,J-J.ルソー(Jean-Jacques Rousseau,1712～1778)の著作の中に,今日の我々が言うところの「環境」を意味する一連の言説があることに注目し,その整理を試みるとともに,これらルソーの「環境」としての「自然」認識が,彼の「文明社会」(フランス旧制度社会)批判の一翼を形成していることを示唆してきた。
　本稿ではさらにこれらの検討をふまえて,ルソー思想の大きな柱の一つである「自然人」(エミール)教育,とくに自然現象・自然宗教教育(環境教育)を考察し,あわせてルソーの「自然」・社会・「環境」認識の相互関連および「環境教育」構想との関係を吟味することとした。また,現代環境教育に対する示唆についても簡単に触れようとした。これらはいまだ試論的段階ではあるが,この検討を通じて今後の研究課題を自覚してみることも,本稿の目的の一つである。
