| 内容記述 | After the end of the War, the Japanese private financial institutions were confronted with enormous difficulties. The first difficulty was to decrease their deposit accounts in spite of increasing demand of funds, which was derived chiefly from the postwar confusion of Japanese economy and society. At the same time, Japanese financial institutions suffered serious losses because of the cancelling of the wartime indemnities by the Government in 1946. The second difficulty was caused by the democratization policy of GHQ. In 1948 GHQ directed that special banks, which had played an important role in long-term finance in prewar time, should be converted into commercial banks. However, the division of big banks did not go into effect, differing from the case of West Germany. The postwar revision of the Japanese financial system was realized in full during the first half of 1950's. However, we should pay attention to some important revision of the financial system in the second half of 1940's, too. |
