| 内容記述 | This paper examines Akira Yanabu's discussion on translated words of Japanese. In so doing this paper argues that his discussion suggests some critical implications about the way of social construction of realities by using Japanese. In his consideration Yanabu regards language not only as representing realities but also as constructing realities in itself. And he poses the question about the disjuncture between the language for the world of thoughts and the language for the world of everyday in Japanese. While these translated words such as 'syakai(society)', 'kozin(individual)', 'kindai(modern)' are basic concepts for thoughts including sociology, they isolate from language for the everyday life world. These Japanese concepts aren't used by people for constructing social realities of their everyday experiences. Based on Yabnabu's discussion, this paper explicates how such a disjuncture has been organized in relation to the rapid modernization in Japan since Meiji period. | |||||||||||||
