| 内容記述 | In Shakespeare's plays there are many episodes in which a character brings news to another character. In such episodes information about an event, a situation, or the like is communicated to the audience not only by the character who plays the role of the news-deliverer but also by the one who plays that of the news-receiver. However, while the function of the former has been fairly well recognized, that of the latter has been underestimated, or rather almost completely overlooked. The aim of this paper is to reconsider the relationship between the two roles and to reevaluate the function of the news- receiver. | |||||||
